Who we are

Ndwela Media was founded by filmmakers and photographers who grew up watching East African stories go untold — or told badly by people who didn't understand them.

We started in Kampala with a camera and a conviction: that authentic stories, made with craft and care, change how people see the world. Seven years later, that conviction is still what drives every project we take on.

We work with brands, NGOs, development organisations, and international productions. We consult on narrative strategy, shoot documentaries, make films, and photograph the moments that deserve to last. All of it rooted in a deep respect for the places, people, and cultures we document.

Our film Footwine won Best Director and Best Set Design at the Durban Film Festival. We're proud of that. We're more proud of the stories that never made it to a festival — the ones that quietly helped a donor say yes, a community see themselves with dignity, a brand tell the truth.

Authentic Storytelling, Made in East Africa.
Project Manager, KOICA Uganda
Ndwela understood what we were trying to say before we could fully articulate it ourselves. The film they made for us didnt just document the project, it told the story of what transformation actually looks like on the ground.
Project Manager, Every Child Ministries
We needed a film that honoured the diginity of the children we server. Ndwela delievered something that moved our donors to action. They got our mission from day one
Marketing Lead, Equity Bank Uganda
What stood out was how much research they did before picking up a camera. By the time we arrived on set, every shot had a purpose. The preparation shows in the final product
